Notre Dame erupts for 21 runs in regular-season baseball finale against Louisa-Muscatine

With the first round of the Class 1A district tournament set for Saturday, the Notre Dame High School baseball team is heating up at just the right time.
One night after handing Mediapolis just its second loss of the season, the Nikes piled up 11 hits and rolled to a resounding 21-2 victory over Louisa-Muscatine in the regular-season finale Wednesday at Winegard Field.
Dylan Kipp led the Nikes' hit parade, going 3-for-3, scoring four runs and driving in six. He hit a grand slam in the 13-run third inning.
"I had one other home run (this season) and this one felt a ton better than that," Kipp said. "It would have been nice to do it in a close game, but it still felt really good."
Also for the Nikes, Spencer Brent went 3-for-4, Landry Habreichter went 2-for-3 and scored three runs, Carson Chiprez had a triple, scored three runs and drove in three runs, Caden Schwenker scored three runs and drove in a pair and Owen Gulick scored three runs.
"It was pretty cool. It didn't even seem like we scored t3 runs," Kipp said of the third inning. It seemed like it just flew by, even though we almost batted through the order twice."
Jeremiah Crow picked up the win, pitching three innings, allowing two hits and no earned runs while striking out four. Payne Prottsman pitched the final inning, allowing one hit.
Notre Dame (13-10) plays Wapello (3-15) in a Class 1A district first round game at 5 p.m. Saturday at Keota.
