The 2025 high school soccer season was chock full of talented players, great teams and plenty of hard-fought matches.
Area players were rewarded for their hard work and dedication to the sport when the Iowa High School Soccer Coaches Association announced its all-state teams on Monday.
Eight area players — four girls, four boys — were recognized for their individual achievements and contributions to their teams’ success.
In the end, the Notre Dame-West Burlington boys qualified for the Class 2A state tournament, while the Mediapolis boys and Burlington girls were knocked out one match short of the state tournament.

The Nikes advanced to the state tournament for the first time since 2022, falling to Williamsburg in a Class 2A quarterfinal match.
Not surprisingly, the Nikes landed three players on the Class 2A teams.
Senior defender Peyton Reichter and senior forward Alessandro Markomichelakis were named to the second team, while senior midfielder Zack Wilke received honorable mention.
Reichter was a mainstay on the backline of the Nikes’ stingy defense, which allowed just 25 goals in 20 matches. He scored one goal on just one shot on net.
Markomichelakis, a foreign exchange student from Italy, set the Nikes’ program record for goals in a season with 34. He also had 10 assists and finished with 78 points with 99 shots on goal.
Wilke also was defensive-minded, looking to take the ball and get it to the Nikes’ high-scoring forwards. Wilke finished with 15 shots on goal in 20 matches.
