Donna Sue (Frey) Edwards, 81, of Lincoln, NE passed away from dementia, peacefully with family by her side on Friday September 29, 2023; the Feast day of the Archangels. Donna was born in 1942 in Burlington, IA to Bernard and Mary Catherine (Gramke) Frey. She married Marvin Dean Edwards on June 30th, 1962 in Burlington, IA at St. John’s Catholic Church. They enjoyed 46 years of marriage together before Marvin passed away on August 16th, 2008. They were blessed with three children; Michael Dean, Kathy Dianne and Kristin Anne.

Donna graduated in 1960 from Notre Dame High School in Burlington, IA where she was a cheerleader. She met her husband at Osco Drug in Burlington, IA and knew from day one that she was going to marry him. They moved several times with Osco Drug to include Racine, WI, Wheaton, IL, and New Hampshire where they were blessed with the gifts of Michael and Kathy before settling in Lincoln, NE where they discovered the “Flu” turned out to be Kristin.

Donna was known throughout town as the card lady working first with American Greetings throughout several store locations for many years, and later Four-Star Card and Gift Gallery, helping to open the store and remained a valued employee for 15 years. She loved the many customers that came through the doors of Four Star. She enjoyed interacting with them and was there to serve them to find just the right card or gift for the occasion.

Donna loved to bowl, golf, play bridge, and always enjoyed a good book; always having to stop at the book aisle where ever we were for the latest novels by her favorite authors. She was known in our family as the Skip-Bo queen, and always enjoyed playing with her children and grandchildren alike around our kitchen table! Donna loved spending time with her family and friends. Speaking of friends, Donna could make friends where ever she went, and we mean anywhere!  Age was never a factor, and she made many great and loyal friends throughout her years.

Donna has been a member of Cathedral of the Risen Christ Catholic Church since moving to Lincoln, NE in 1971. She was proud of her faith and a strong believer of Catholic education sending all three kids through Cathedral of the Risen Christ elementary school and Pius X High School.
