Records fall at Central College indoor meet

School records and personal bests were the order of the day both Friday and Saturday at the Central College Indoor track and field meet in Pella.

In the boys’ meet on Friday, West Burlington-Notre Dame’s Landry Haberichter set a personal best in winning the 60-meter dash in 7.13 seconds. He beat a field of 230 runners.

Also in the 60, WB-ND’s Travain Donaldson tied for third in 7.20, Owen Gulick was seventh in 7.30, Jace Figuereo was eighth in 7.34 and Grant Boal tied for 11th in 7.41.

Mount Pleasant’s Avin Truong tied for ninth in the 60 in 7.35, New London’s Boden Pickle was 14th in 7.44 and Danville’s Ayden Doyle was 15th in 7.48.

Mount Pleasant’s Will Davidson won the 200 in 22.65, while Haberichter was seventh in 24.11, Doyle was eighth in 24.20 and New London’s Reean Seberg was 11th in 24.29.

WB-ND’s Hunter Lillie was 11th in the 400 in 56.27.

New London’s Rylan Martin won the 800 in 2:03.29, while Mount Pleasant’s Ben Carthey was sixth in 2:11.13.

Danville’s Jackson Shacklett was fifth in the 1,600 in 4:52.83, while teammate Carter Fesler was sixth in the 3,200 in 10:33.77.

Davidson won the 60 hurdles in 8.31.

New London was third in the 4x400 in 3:49.52, while Danville was sixth in 3:51.00 and Mount Pleasant was seventh in 3:53.97.

Mount Pleasant took second in the 4x800 in 8:52.23, while Danville was third in 9:15.01, WB-ND was fourth in 9:20.49 and the Mount Pleasant ‘A’ team was 10th in 9:51.08.

New London’s Kade Benjamin, the defending Class 1A state champion, won the high jump at 6 feet, 6 inches, while WB-ND’s Layton Diewold was seventh and Boal was 10th, both clearing 5-8.

Mount Pleasant’s Isaac Jerrel was fourth in the shot put at 14.96 meters.

Truan won the long jump with a best of 6.55 meters. Davidson was second at 6.41 and Diewold was fifth at 5.68.

GIRLS

Ava Parkins and Elise Oleson each set school records for the WB-ND girls on Saturday at Pella.

Parkins set the school record in the 60, finishing ninth in 8.27. Teammates Amiya Davis (12th in 8.43) and Ady Lamm (15th in 8.48) also set personal bests.

Oleson finished sixth in the shot put with a heave of 10.15. Mount Pleasant’s Ella Ensminger was seventh at 10.13, while Savannah Slobodink was 10th at 9.74.

Danville’s Alaina Gourley was 10th in the 200 in 28.31 and was second in the 400 in 1:01.25. Teammate Miya Orbiana was fifth in the 400 in 1:04.71.

Mount Pleasant’s Josie Gilmore was 10th in the 60 hurdles in 10.47.

Mount Pleasant finished sixth in the 4x200 in 1:58.31.

Danville took fifth in the 4x400 in 4:35.63, while Mount Pleasant was eighth in 4:46.08 and sixth in the 4x800 in 10:53.34.

Gilmore tied for third in the high jump at 4-10.

Mount Pleasant’s Kynlee White was seventh in the long jump at 4.66 meters, while Elsie Lange was eighth (4.57) and Bailey Jalas was 11th (4.36).

MONMOUTH COLLEGE

In the boys portion of the Monmouth indoor meet Saturday at Monmouth College, West Central’s Kaiden Droste was eight in the 60 in 7.26 and sixth in the 200 in 23.63.

Fort Madison’s Peyton Lambert was 11th in the 400 in 57.33.

Burlington’s Sam Morehead took sixth in the 800 in 2:08.97, while Fort Madison’s Nolan Guzman was 11th in 2:13.73.

Morehead was fourth in the 3,200 in 10:24.06.

Fort Madison’s Henry Wiseman took second in the 60 hurdles in 8.87, while Burlington’s Salomon Cordero was third in 9.28 and Fort Madison’s Keonte Smith was 11th in 9.77.

Fort Madison’s Caden Barnes was eighth in the shot put with a best of 14.07 meters.

Tyler Neumann of West Central was eighth in the high jump and Burlington’s Laderrias Shealey was 12th, both clearing 1.77 meters.

Droste took fourth in the ling jump at 6.24 meters.

GIRLS

Christella Boyer finished 11th in the 60 for Burlington in 8.48, while teammate Mylee Stiefel was fifth in the 200 in 28.13 and Sophie Brown was seventh in the 400 in 1:05.51.

Fort Madison’s Avery Rump was third in the 3,200 in 12:16.05.

Fort Madison was eighth in the 4x400 in 4:37.99 and sixth in the 4x800.

Fort Madison Aija Jenkins tied for fifth in the high jump at 1.52 meters, while Burlington’s Kilee Peoples was 11th at 1.42.

Stiefel finished sixth in the long jump at 4.59.
